I am delighted to inform parents of our exciting and ambitious plans to build new ‘state of the art’ school buildings, enabling us to pursue the next stage of the Federation’s vision of a true community school serving our surrounding area.

The £20 million plus project will lead to the complete rebuilding of The Bramcote School and Bramcote College and the transformation of Alderman White School.  As well as high quality and well-equipped classrooms, the buildings on The Bramcote site will include new science and technology areas, indoor and outdoor sports facilities and a theatre and performance area, all of which will allow us to extend the use of our facilities by the local community. In the Autumn, we will also take possession of two premium quality sports pitches on land that is about to be transferred into the Federation ownership.

Despite the many successes and strengths of the Federation in recent years, as parents you will know the issues that our buildings present us with. They are well over half a century old, and are showing their age. The staff here do remarkably well to ensure that we are able to provide an excellent standard of education for our students, but they have to overcome obstacles created by poor quality buildings and infrastructure not fit for education in 2014. This project will ensure that we have the right environment to enable us to deliver the exciting, high-quality teaching and learning that our students deserve.

As part of the vision, The Bramcote School and Bramcote College will be located close together on some of the currently unused land belonging to the Federation, and close to the new sports facilities. Although they will share some areas and services, the schools will each keep their distinct character. Alderman White School will have substantial new buildings and all remaining areas will be refurbished and upgraded to a high standard.

The Federation is working with award-winning architects Roberts Limbrick, and will be consulting widely with students, parents and the local community to ensure that the new buildings are the best possible to deliver the Federation’s long-term vision. We are keen to work with the local community to provide school buildings that we can all be proud of, and benefit from.

The Directors have explored a range of funding possibilities and as a result, we are confident that this vision will be turned into reality.  Outline planning applications are being prepared for submission to Broxtowe Borough Council and we will begin an informal consultation process, both within school and in the community, in the autumn term.
